PHIXER for Frame.io / client review mono fold (review links and phone playback)
Studio headphones can feel huge while the same Frame.io review link thins on a stakeholder phone, in the Frame.io player, or when a stereo bed under voiceover loses lows on fold. That is a different job from Vimeo site embeds, YouTube loudness, TikTok / Reels / Shorts, and Twitch livestream. Practical habit: check with PHIXER before you share the review link. Free phase-repair helps after polarity and timing. It is not a Frame.io encoder, not a time-aligner, and not a stereo widener.

PHIXER is free stereo phase-repair (VST3/CLAP/AU · Win/Mac/Linux) from Riverflux Audio. Frequency-aware phase rotation for leftover L/R fights on stereo material. It is not a Frame.io encoder, not a time-aligner, not a stereo widener, and not a substitute for polarity, delay matching, or a real mono / phone / review-player check. Use it after hygiene, when residual spectral cancellation remains on a stereo bed you must keep stereo through Frame.io review links, stakeholder phone playback, and player fold. Check with PHIXER before you share.
Three Frame.io / client-review collapse modes (not Vimeo embeds or YouTube)
- Review-link phone fold. Clients, producers, and stakeholders often open the Frame.io link on a phone speaker or one bud. L/R fights that pass stereo monitors show up immediately. Habit: true L+R sum on the bounce, then open the real review link on a phone before you invite comments.
- Frame.io player fold. The in-browser player, comment timeline, and shared presentation path can near-mono or thin the image vs your DAW cans. A master that sounds huge in headphones can soft-drop bed lows and side beds under VO. Preview inside Frame.io, not only on the bounce bus.
- Stereo beds under voiceover. Music beds, sting beds, and ambient beds under VO are where disappearing lows and hollow mid bands hurt most on stakeholder playback. Distinct from Vimeo portfolio embeds, YouTube loudness, TikTok short-form, and Twitch. Cousins: Vimeo mono · YouTube loudness · YouTube mono · TikTok / Reels / Shorts.
Fast Frame.io / review-link / phone mono audition (about 60 seconds)
- Sum L+R on the master / stereo bounce bus. Listen to VO intelligibility, bed lows, and side beds under voiceover.
- A/B stereo vs mono. Note what disappears on fold: S and SH consonants, kick or bed punch, wide pads under the VO.
- Upload or refresh the version in Frame.io. Open the review link on a phone speaker. Mute wide FX / Haas / side-heavy verbs. Note which path thins the phone fold.
- Re-check fold after any limiter / loudness / encode / export pass, not only before cleanup. Still check with PHIXER before you share the review link if residual L/R fights remain.
Honest order of fixes (before spectral phase rotation)
1. True mono / L+R listen plus phone and Frame.io preview
Hard L+R sum on the master / stereo bounce. Then preview on a phone speaker and inside the real Frame.io review-player path. Habit: the 60-second audition above.
2. Polarity if a path flips
Dual mics, stacked stems, dual-path beds under VO. Flip polarity when body returns. Guide: polarity vs phase.
3. Timing / delay-align before spectral tools
Nudge dual mics, stacked takes, and wide beds a few ms. Spectral rotation is not a substitute for timing. PHIXER is not a time-aligner.
4. Prefer correlated lows and center under voiceover
Keep critical VO, kick, and bed lows correlated. Put width in sides that survive review-link and phone fold. Related: Vimeo mono, trailer music, and the YouTube / TikTok cousins above.
5. Only then audition residual L/R spectral fights
If a stereo bed must stay stereo and fold still hollows a band after the steps above, gentle frequency-aware phase rotation can help. Prove it with mono A/B. Check with PHIXER before you share the Frame.io review link. Watch the YouTube tutorial and the YouTube intro.
Frame.io / client review path types
| Setup | Common mono failure | First fix |
|---|---|---|
| Frame.io review link on phone | Fine in stereo cans, thin on stakeholder phone speaker | True L+R + phone audition before you invite comments |
| In-browser Frame.io player | Bed lows and side beds soft-drop vs DAW monitors | Hard mono bounce; preview inside the real player |
| Stereo bed under voiceover | Disappearing lows / hollow mid under VO on fold | Correlate bed lows; less width under speech |
| Wide pad / Haas under VO | Swish or cancel on review-link / phone fold | Less width in lows; correlated center |
| Dual-path vocal / stacked takes | Body gone when both play under a music bed | Polarity then timing; one hero speech path |
| Limiter / encode / export pass | Fine in headphones, thin after Frame.io share | Re-check fold after export / upload, not only before |
| Vimeo / YouTube / TikTok / trailer cousin | Wrong checklist for Frame.io review links and stakeholder phones | Vimeo · YouTube loudness · YouTube mono · TikTok · trailer music |
Vimeo, YouTube, TikTok, and trailer cousins (short version)
- Frame.io review links share the same L+R habit as phone fold, but the delivery path is collaborative client review and stakeholder playback, not Vimeo portfolio embeds or Shorts virality.
- Vimeo / professional video, YouTube loudness, YouTube social mono, and TikTok / Reels / Shorts are cousins, not the same checklist. Do not reuse a Vimeo embed or Shorts list without a Frame.io review-link phone check.
- Trailer music and game trailer beds often land on Frame.io for agency and client review. Same mono hygiene, different page jobs: trailer music · game trailer · Vimeo mono.
- Polarity and timing still come first. Spectral tools after residual L/R fights only. Check with PHIXER before you share.
- Full write-ups: Vimeo mono, YouTube loudness, YouTube mono, TikTok / Reels / Shorts.
When not to reach for PHIXER
- Wrong polarity on dual mics or stacked stems (flip polarity first).
- Obvious attack misalignment (nudge first). PHIXER is not a time-aligner.
- You only need a mono print, not a stereo bed that must survive Frame.io review-link and phone fold.
- Frame.io upload / version / comment / permission settings (wrong tool). It is not a Frame.io encoder.
- Loudness, LUFS, or stream-encoder problems (wrong tool). See YouTube loudness for that cousin.
- Honesty list: When not to use PHIXER.
